Wanna get out of the tired rut?! Nearly everyone on planet earth has suffered from Monday morning blahs at some point. Occasional low energy and wishing it was still the weekend is completely normal from time to time. However, if you are tired of feeling tired most days of the week, then you can do something about it. Fatigue is the most common complaint among people today, so you are not alone.
Often I hear "I am stressed, there are not enough hours in the day and I'm always tired". If you are one of those people, then I am happy to share some very simple modifications you can make to your life right now, that will boost your energy level and put some spice back into your life!
Here are 2 tips to get out of the tired rut:
1. Develop Good Sleep Habits. Sleep is one of the most underrated health habits and it is one of the most important things you can do for your overall health and vitality. Did you know that being tired at the wheel is the equivalent to being drunk? Scary and true. Aim for a minimum of 7-8 hours of sleep each night, when it's DARK. This is key, because you secrete a very important cancer fighting hormone at night called "melatonin". If you are not getting enough shut eye, your melatonin won't do it's work. This is also when your anti-aging hormones come out to play and your body repair mechanisms work their magic.Want to keep wrinkles away? Then go to bed early :)
2. Exercise Every Day. I know this from personal experience, the days I have a good run or a bike ride, I'm completely zonked by 10:30pm and can't wait to hit the sack for a wonderful sleep. I LOVE this feeling. If too many days pass where I don't make time for exercise, then I am wired at night and tired the next morning. Exercise boosts your energy and improves your overall feelings of well-being, like confidence!
Researchers say that you can't make up for lost sleep. You can't assume that you can sleep 10 hours tonight because you only slept 4 hours last night.
So, make sure you get in some exercise today and head to bed by 10:30 or 11pm for a good night's rest. You WILL feel the difference tomorrow. Stay tuned for more tips over the next few days.
Have a wonderful Monday!

Hi Joy, Having spent much of my life experiencing the "Monday blahs" every day, I can certainly appreciate this post! Sleep is definitely one of the easiest and cheapest ways to improve your energy and your life. As you said, it's really important to sleep in complete darkness. Here are some additional sleep tips that have also made a big difference for me. Exercise is a great way to boost energy too, but if you overdo it or if you don't have the capacity, it can easily do more harm than good. I think this is an important consideration for people who force themselves to exercise thinking that it will compensate for what they eat.
ReplyMaybe the secret is to sleep 18 hours a day. Miss Nellers looks very well rested.
ReplyHa! Exactly. When I come back in another life, I want to be a cat! ;)
