Cherry Hemp Smoothie

This plant-based anti-inflammatory, gut-loving, darn tasty smoothie will shake up your morning routine in the best way possible!

Weekday mornings can be hectic at times. Whether you've got kids to get to school or dogs to walk or a long commute to work, there is often less time than ideal to make a healthy breakfast for yourself. No matter how busy life gets, the one thing I don't compromise on is breakfast.

That's why I love smoothies. I put all the ingredients into a container the night before, pop in the freezer and it's super convenient in the morning. All I need to do (and this can be done half asleep lol) is plop the ingredients into a blender, add some liquid and you're off to the races - a yummy and healthy breakfast in a snap!

Cherry Bomb Smoothie

It's no secret I'm a fan of using plant-based protein, so I'm super excited to announce my partnership with Manitoba Harvest. What this means is that I will be sharing more delicious recipes (like this one!) over the next several months using their awesome products, like this hemp protein and of course hemp hearts!

For breakfast or a snack, this smoothie is the bomb! I've added hemp protein because it is smooth and has a neutral taste, plus 20g of protein per serving is excellent. Most plant-based protein powders bother my tummy so I am super picky and this one leads to zero gas or bloating!

Cherry Bomb Smoothie

There's no need to shy away from adding zucchini to a smoothie even though it might seem odd. You don't taste the zucchini at all but it adds great texture as it helps to bulk up your smoothie plus it adds an excellent source of gut-loving and blood sugar balancing fibre. Zucchini is a nutrient and water rich food that is low in carbohydrates relative to other fruits.

Ingredients
  • 1 banana
  • Half a zucchini
  • 1 cup frozen cherries
  • Half avocado or ½ cup frozen avocado cubes
  • 4 tbsp Hemp Yeah! Max Protein Unsweetened
  • 2 cups non-dairy milk of choice
  • Optional: 10 drop liquid stevia to sweeten or some raw honey
  • Top with shredded coconut
Instructions
  1. Place all ingredients into a blender and blitz until smooth. Enjoy right away!

Notes

Serves 1 generously or 2

You could easily turn this into a smoothie bowl by adding your favourite homemade granola to the top with fresh fresh fruit and a schlop of coconut yogurt .
