Hi Joy - what a fantastic podcast on rosacea!!! I agree with you in that there is very little good information out there on how to manage rosacea. I've had rosacea for at least 10 years. The dermatologists always gave me the same story about how it's genetic, no cure, just put this cream on. Last year I got serious about cleaning up my diet. I no longer eat dairy, corn, soy or gluten. I cut caffeine and alcohol as well. I also discovered my rosacea is triggered by too much fat and/or protein in my diet, so for this, I only eat meat once a day and limit my healthy fats where possible. In just 8 months, I feel better than I ever have before. My rosacea is still there but so much more manageable now. I really want to try some of the supplements you recommended and your skin care as well. Thank you Joy! Your podcast has been truly refreshing and insightful.
ReplyI am thrilled to hear that you've figured out your triggers and your skin is better than ever before! It sounds like removing those foods really helped reduce the inflammation. Thank you for sharing as well, I'm sure your comment will help others and I'm so happy you found this episode refreshing and insightful. :) I wish you continued healthy and vibrant skin!
So informative thank you ๐๐ผ I have exema and get hives on chest and hands Iโm g free lactose free refined sugar free Iโm using your skincare line, started 2 weeks ago and Iโm amazed at how hydrated my skin feels now. On this chat you mentioned you use cleanser then mix the magical mist with serum?? I spray my face with mist then apply serum. Can you advise on this please to clarify. Also is it safe to be out in sun with the hyaluronic in the serum with sunscreen on top? Which sunscreen ๐งด s best for super sensitive skin on face, and chest where exema turns to hives at times on chest area. Recently purchased consonant spf30 for face. I saw it on an older blog of yours. I canโt find the link to the products and supplements you talked about. Please advise! Thanks again for all you do for all of us from recipes to blogs and fantastic skincare line.
ReplyI'm happy you found it helpful Leanne! I'm so glad your face is feeling hydrated from my skincare line! Here is a video on Instagram on how to use the skincare trio: https://www.instagram.com/p/CUaqs14le9j/ And yes, I make a little emulsion with the serum and the mist but if your skin is damp from spritzing with the Magical Mist you don't have to spritz the serum with more mist if you don't want to. I love the Consonant SPF but I can't use it in the winter cause it makes me flaky. Instead, I use Coola. Here's the post all about my skincare routine: https://www.joyoushealth.com/27515-blog-rosacea-how-i-care-for-my-skin-naturally Please note I didn't have the mist when I originally wrote this post because it only launched in the fall of 2021 but if you watch that video I shared, you'll see how I use it. I spray the mist on a few times per day. I have a bottle at home and at my office! Here is the link to the supplements as well: https://www.joyoushealth.com/27518-blog-rosacea-natural-health-supplements All the articles I spoke about in this podcast are linked in the post above. Hope that helps!
Thanks Joy! I do take omega 369 would you also add In the boulardi or the borage oil? Iโm also taking calcium and d vitamin and Imu-gen trying to calm sinus related allergies. Just concerned about being away I. The sun flaring up the exema which can turn to hives on chest. So is it safe to be in sun with the joyous health serum with sunscreen or do you need to avoid hyaluronic acid when being in sun? You are Such a joy, and wealth of knowledge thanks so much for all you do!
ReplyHi again! Hyaluronic acid does not cause sun sensitivity so there is zero worry there. It is extremely hydrating for the skin so you'll notice the hydration level of your skin improve immediately once you've applied the Hella Hydrating serum. S. Boulardii is excellent for the immune system and overall gut health while borage is excellent for supporting the skin barrier function. While I can't provide specific recommendations other than offer you guidance on the benefits of certain natural health supplements, I would recommending working with a naturopath or a certified nutritionist who can help you and put together a custom plan for you :)
Hi, Joy. How do we use the coupon for the DUTCH test? I thought only certified practitioners could order the test. Would we give the code to them? Thanks!
ReplyHi there Jennifer! Anyone can order the test and receive the results. Just enter the coupon on checkout. However, if you don't know how to interpret the results then you'll need to hire a practitioner who is well versed in the Dutch Test to give you a proper analysis of it which I would highly recommend because it is not easy to interpret.
Why "manage" rosacea when you can HEAL? "Managing" keeps us in the old paradigm where a "cure" comes from the "outside", usually in the form of a pharmaceutical pill. (This thinking is unfortunately prominent in functional medicine, where pharmaceuticals are replaced by supplements). "Healing", on the other hand, allows us to step into a space of possibility, to listen to our body's innate wisdom, and to support it so it can do what it knows how to do best: heal. A shift in paradigm that will free us from the grip of our current sickcare system and one that is long overdue.
ReplyGreat point! I can't change the title of the podcast now since it's been out there since February, but I hope you have a listen as I talk all about how to heal it naturally. Enjoy!
Would've preciated a transcrpit of this below, I cant remember all the products.
ReplyUnderstandable. For the time being, we always include every resource mentioned in the podcast at the bottom of the post you're commenting on, so just scroll to the bottom and you'll see it all there. This is the skincare I mentioned: https://hellojoyous.com/collections/face, this is the Pure Radiance Tea https://hellojoyous.com/collections/tea/products/pure-radiance-tea?variant=43069992239303 and Everyday Detox tea for healthy skin https://hellojoyous.com/collections/tea/products/detox-tea?variant=42820950720711. Hope that helps!
Hello, are there transcripts available for your podcasts? Thanks!

Hello my name is Manoj Karki. I am form Nepal ๐ณ๐ต. I don't know that I hane rosecea no but I went to many dermatologist to know that I am suffer or not. I found in my face that when I use sunscreen and moisturizer my nose don't become red but when I skip my moisturizer or sunscreen that the redness occurs in my face and the shape of my nose is also bumpy the tip side. I don't know I to heal it. If you have any idea please can you guide me to cure it miss joyous.
ReplyHi there Manoj, have you listened to this whole podcast as yet? Lots of great tips to help you.
Need help, have some rosacea but I find when I use HA it still makes my skin extremely dry also! Thx Joy ๐
ReplyIt could be the quality and the size of the HA molecules aren't actually doing anything. The combo of a seed oil like Rosehip with HA in our Hella Hydrating Serum is a power duo of ingredients to hydrate and moisturize! That's what I would recommend for rosacea.
Thanks for this wonderful podcast. Very informative! I've had rosacea for over 10 years (I'm 54 now) and it's gotten a bit better by trying to reduce my histamines in foods. I'm going to try some of the supplements you recommend. I'm also curious about red light therapy. I heard you mention it on another episode (#102), and was wondering if you bought a device to use at home on a regular basis. I've thought many times of trying IPL, but am worried that it seems a bit "aggressive", and I am thinking red light therapy sounds gentler.
ReplyI'm glad you found this podcast so informative :) I do think IPL is a bit aggressive. Check out BBL, it's a much gentler option and there is no down time at all. You won't have any redness or irritation from the treatment. Lasers of course like BBL and IPL are far less aggressive than using a red light. The red light + infrared light I have is Joov. I don't know how beneficial it is for rosacea specifically but it has many other general benefits. Hope that helps!
