Welcome to thoughtful, organic beauty
Hello Joyous is an organic, plant-based, sustainable beauty brand here to bring more joy to your day.
Can one ingredient do everything to brighten, balance, and nourish your skin? No, but a blend of ingredients can do wonders! That doesn't mean you should be putting every single ingredient that has benefits on your face like a buffet because more is not necessarily better. When choosing a skincare product, focus on fewer, better, and really good quality ingredients for your healthiest, brightest most glowing skin.
Let's dig into five ingredients to brighten, balance, and nourish your skin.
Rose Geranium
This is a type of geranium plant with leaves that smell like roses, hence the name "rose geranium." This wonderful botanical is packed with antioxidants that brighten dull skin and reduce skin irritation - it's a beautiful naturally calming and soothing herb. These antioxidants also do double duty as they help reduce the appearance of fine lines by mopping up free radicals that damage DNA and cause premature wrinkling. Rose Geranium has antibacterial properties that can also help prevent bacterial acne. And finally, the scent is soothing and promotes relaxation and optimism.
Rose Geranium is the main ingredient in our ultra-soothing Magical Mist.
Calendula
Calendula is a marigold plant that traditionally has been used for healing the skin. The medicinal part of the plant is found in the beautiful, deeply rich colored orange and yellow flower. Similar to rose geranium, calendula is calming and soothing. In fact, it can be extremely beneficial for conditions like eczema. The nourishing benefits of calendula promote more supple skin. The anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties help to protect your skin from the elements. I always have calendula cream in my first aid kit too!
Witch Hazel
Witch hazel is a hardy shrub that’s indigenous to the United States. In fact, it’s been used for hundreds of years by Indigenous cultures for skin irritation and inflammation.
Witch hazel contains many compounds with anti-inflammatory properties such as gallic acid and tannins that calm inflammation and soothe the skin. Its astringent qualities may also help to reduce the appearance of pores. This ingredient can help to tone and balance the pH of the skin. You often see witch hazel blended with aloe vera, which can be applied to the skin.
Lemon Balm
Lemon balm is a lemon-scented herb that comes from the same family as mint. In fact, it even looks a bit like mint! It’s grown all around the world.
This fresh, rejuvenating herb is not just for tea drinkers! Lemon balm acts as an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agent for the skin. It can help reduce swelling and skin irritation. Rich in flavonoids and rosmarinic acid, which act as antioxidants for the skin to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Lemon balm can help relieve stress and tension which is why it's great in tea as well.
Cucumber
There have been numerous times throughout my life that I've put cucumber slices on my eyes to reduce puffiness after a late night or on my hot cheeks when I had a rosacea flare up.
Fortunately, it's been a while since I had to do that, but cucumber has naturally cooling and balancing properties for the skin. Truly food for the skin!
All five of these ingredients can be found in our newest skincare product Magical Mist!
This daily soothing facial toner is the best way to truly nourish, soothe, and balance your skin. Spritz your face after cleansing to provide the perfect dewy surface to apply your serum or simply give yourself a midday magical refresh for healthy, hydrated skin.
Wishing you bright, balanced and nourished skin!
