Welcome to thoughtful, organic beauty
Hello Joyous is an organic, plant-based, sustainable beauty brand here to bring more joy to your day.
This Peppermint Chocolate Smoothie is just as delicious as the Double Chocolate Espresso Smoothie! It's creamy, satisfying, naturally sweet and the perfect energizing power snack or dessert to enjoy over the holidays.
I love the combination of peppermint and chocolate together. It reminds me of peppermint avocado pudding in my first cookbook Joyous Health.
I added Genuine Health's organic fermented protein powder to this smoothie to make it more satiating and balanced. Each scoop provides 20g of plant-based, no-bloat protein. Due to the fact it's fermented, it supports gut health too.
I kept the ingredients simple in hopes that you already have all the ingredients in your kitchen already as I did. Peppermint oil might not be one you normally have on hand but you can use fresh peppermint in place of the oil instead.

This is sooooo good! I make it nice
ReplyThis comment didn't fully post.... I make it nice and thick, eat it as a smoothie bowl topped with homemade grain -free granola.
This smoothie was sooooo good. Thank you and I also learnt why I get so bloated from shakes- cause of the protein powder not being fermented. Does that kind taste? I usually didnt but vegan due to the funky taste.
ReplySo glad to hear you loved this smoothie! It tastes delicious! The texture is great too, smooth and creamy.
Hey Joy - what oat milk do you prefer? Or do you make your own? We buy Earth’s Own unsweetened original but it has canola oil in it ... not sure if that is good or bad?
ReplyThat is so weird! I use Earth's Own oat milk too but I just looked at the carton and it has sunflower oil NOT canola. I do not like canola oil due to the amount of processing the oil goes through to get it to a point it's even edible, it's just gross. I'm not sure why there would be that discrepancy though. I buy the one that isn't in the fridge - it's in a carton and then once opened it has to be refrigerated.
Oops sorry my mistake - sunflower oil is right. Ok that makes more sense. I noticed they came out with a ‘naked version’ without the oil. We tried it / it wasn’t as good as the original. But as long as sunflower oil isn’t bad then we will keep on using it - it is so yummy! Looking forward to trying out this smoothie - always looking for ways to get our 5yr old to have more fat and protein! Thanks Joy :)
I mean, it's better than canola. I don't use sunflower oil in any cooking or baking but I feel fine about it being in an organic product considering I don't drink oat milk that often... only in smoothies and baking.
Sorry I had the type of oil wrong for that oat milk - you are right it is sunflower - oops! :):)
ReplyPhew! Okay I'm glad to hear that!! Crisis averted ;)
Hi! This looks delicious! I’m wondering about calorie content. I am trying to lose weight via healthy eating and watching overall daily calories helps me do that. Thank you!
ReplyHi Mody, you can probably put all the ingredients into an app like "my fitness pal" to calculate. I do not believe in calorie counting for weight loss, because all calories are not created equal. I encourage you to join my 21 Days to Joyous Health in January if you want to focus on healthy weight :) https://hi.joyoushealth.com/21days
