Welcome to thoughtful, organic beauty
Hello Joyous is an organic, plant-based, sustainable beauty brand here to bring more joy to your day.
Just when you thought that I couldn’t possibly create another cake and outdo my famous Almond Flour Cake , I did it! Okay okay, maybe I’m getting ahead of myself here but I do think I’ve created a seriously scrumptious, no scratch that, insanely delicious cake that is totally nut-free and gluten-free. The reality is, a lot of people and parents have kids who can’t eat nuts, so I don’t wan you to feel left out.
This Banana Hemp Cake (see video) could just become your new favourite cake for special occasions, like you know, a Friday afternoon midday break or Sunday tea with your bestie. Any occasion can be made special and memorable when you’re enjoying something yummy.
If you’re a banana bread lover, than you will LOVE this banana hemp cake. I used my Chocolate Chip Banana Bread to inspire this recipe but I like this even better because the hemp hearts add a whole new level of health benefits.
Hemp hearts also known as shelled hemp seeds, are the soft inner part of hemp seeds and are packed with a variety of nutrients and health benefits.
Here are some of the benefits of hemp:
1. Rich in Protein: Hemp hearts are an excellent source of plant-based protein, containing all nine essential amino acids, making them a complete protein. This makes them especially beneficial for vegetarians, vegans, and anyone looking to boost their protein intake.
2. High in Healthy Fats: Hemp hearts are rich in essential fatty acids, including omega-3 and omega-6 in an optimal ratio of 3:1. These healthy fats support heart health, brain function, and reduce inflammation.
3. Good Source of Fibre: While most of the fibre in hemp seeds is found in the shell, hemp hearts still contain some fiber, which aids in digestion, helps maintain healthy blood sugar levels, and promotes satiety.
4. Rich in Vitamins and Minerals: Hemp hearts are packed with essential vitamins and minerals, including vitamin E, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, iron, and zinc. These nutrients support various bodily functions, including immune health, bone health, and energy production.
Here is this delicious Banana Hemp Cake recipe.

Can egg be substituted without altering the taste. If yes, how. Any other recipes that are tried and tested for egg substitutes I can refer to.
ReplyThis has not been tested with flax or chia eggs but my readers often test it out and then report back on the comments. I will check if anyone has made it egg free and update the recipe if it works well.
Hi Joy, this is truly delicious! My family (and I have really picky eaters) loved it!!! Greetings from Germany! P.S. Do you maybe have a site where your european followers can calculate cups into grams etc.? I always struggle with it on your recepes…
ReplyHi Guna! Glad you're enjoying my recipes but sorry that's a struggle! If you google "recipe converter cups to grams" there are tons of them. I don't really have one that I use but if I'm trying to figure it out that's what I do :)
Thank you Joy, as I have to avoid not only gluten, cow dairy, corn products AND eggs could you suggest the best egg sub sor this recipe? (applesauce, chia or flax seeds or commercial egg sub mix) Donna-Lee
ReplyHmm, it's hard for me to advise on this when I haven't made this cake egg-free.
Hello Joy, Can I substitute brown rice flour or oat flour with almond flour? Thank you
ReplyAlmond flour has a lot more texture and absorbs less moisture so you can certainly try that out but you might need to decrease the liquid parts of the recipe.
