Welcome to thoughtful, organic beauty
Hello Joyous is an organic, plant-based, sustainable beauty brand here to bring more joy to your day.
You guys know I love my turmeric lattes! I've made multiple versions from my Lazy Lady Latte to my Super Easy Turmeric Ginger tea, to the Turmeric Latte in The Joyous Cookbook and now this one. And yes, this one is different!
Since it's winter and I like spicy foods and drinks, I definitely upped the ante on the spice factor in this one. I added black pepper and cayenne. It's absolutely hilarious how many people call me out on the fact I didn't add black pepper to this turmeric recipe. But don't worry, I explain why at 6:05 for curious minds in that video.
This turmeric collagen spicy latte is creamy, spicy (I know I just said that, ha!) and delicious!
I get all the crazy good feels when I slurp on this wonderfully, nourishing and healing drink. Since I've talked all about the health benefits of turmeric in many different posts, let's talk about the fact I added collagen to this recipe!
Collagen has many health benefits
I used Genuine Health's Marine Collagen unflavoured for this recipe but you could use bovine too. In case you're wondering, there is no vegan source of collagen because it is sourced from fish or animals.
This Turmeric Collagen Spicy Latte is...
Pop all your ingredients into a high power blender and give it a whirl! If you don't have coconut butter, you can simply omit this ingredient and use non-dairy milk instead. I've shared instructions for that in the recipe card below.
Here's the recipe for my Turmeric Collagen Spicy Latte and the video recipe below.
Serves 2.
This recipe is like a ray of sunshine! Be careful you do not spill it on any surface whatsoever because it really does stain. But don't worry, it won't stain your teeth!
Let me know if you have any questions or comments on this recipe!

Can’t wait to try this! But I remember you said there was a way to get the stain out of your blender, could you remind me what it is? Thank you
ReplyThere are a couple of different ways. Place half a lemon with hot water into your blender and blitz for 1 minute. Or place in your dishwasher. Or put it outside in the sunshine, but it's too cold for that depending where you live. Hope that helps!
Live an hour north of Toronto with lots of snow still ! So a lemon it is Thanks so much!
ReplyYou're welcome! :) Good luck!
Sounds delicious and can not wait to try this recipe - thank you! I may opt to exclude the collagen as I've noticed severe breakouts when using it. Have you heard of this before? Any suggestions? Thank you Joy!
ReplyHmm, I haven't heard of that before. That makes me suspect you may have a sensitivity to something in the product vs the collagen causing a reaction.
Ok thank you, I will look into that!
ReplyI just want to point out that fish ARE animals! I know that might sound like a persnickety thing to say, but I think it's an important distinction. Fish are animals just as much as cows, and should be thought of and treated as such! Love your content though, this recipe looks delicious! I wonder if you would do a post about the different brand of collagen on the market and which ones are of highest quality and truly ethical. I haven't started with collagen supplementation yet but it's something I'm curious about doing, and such a resource would be really helpful!
ReplyThanks for the correction! Genuine Health has ethical collagen that is sustainably sourced. You can read more about it on their page - linked above in the post.
I just made myself this drink...minus the pepper and cayenne...and it was sooo good!! Thanks so much for this recipe!!
ReplyYou're welcome! Glad you love it!
Made this today-it was lovely. Thank you!
ReplyGlad to hear that!!
Love this Tumeric Latte, approximate calories in this recipe?? Ball park is all I looking for. Thanks
ReplyHi Barb, not sure as I don't count calories myself and don't recommend it. You could put it into a fitness app and get an accurate measurement.
Unfortunately I am sensitive to ginger, any recommendation to substitute? Possibly cinnamon?
ReplyYou can either just omit it or cinnamon would be a wonderful substitute. Enjoy!
Benefits over one or the other (marine collagen vs. bovine)?
ReplyThe research is pretty on par and one isn't better than the other, it really comes down to personal preference :)
I made this today. I also made spicy hot chocolate yesterday. I love the warmth of the spices. I am normally bored by tea, but these are delicious! And yes, turmeric stains worse than beet!
ReplyGlad you loved it and yes turmeric stains are the worst!
I love this. A question I have here is when is the a good time doing the day to have this tea? Thank you!
ReplyAnytime!
Hi Joy You once had a naturopath on a podcast who specializes in thyroid issues. Can you share her contact info?
ReplyHi Roseanne! Here is the post and links to Lisa Weeks: https://www.joyoushealth.com/27524-blog-ep-51-a-natural-approach-to-thyroid-disorders-with-dr-lisa-weeks
Thank you very much Joy.
ReplyHi Joy. You had recommended a turmeric supplement in another blog post. I cannot find it. I used it and it was great for arthritis pain in my fingers. I left it in the US and my fingers have slowly started to ache again. Thanks
ReplyCheck out New Chapter Fermented Turmeric. I believe Healthy Planet has it. There's also Thorne. Many great brands out there actually! Your local health food store is a good place to check it out.
